FCL/LCL
Full Container Load (FCL)
FCL is one that has reached the maximum permissible weight of the product within the container. In practice, FCL loads do not always mean a full container and inversely describe a load expressly for a shipper who can reserve a FCL but not fully fill the container. In this case, the sender simply wants to use the entire container for their specific needs. When you contact a shipping company to send your products, ask if you should use FCL or LCL. If you have a large load that would leave little room for another customer’s charge, FCL will probably be advised. With FCL, you rent the whole container; After delivery, it must be returned to its point of origin.
Less than Container Load (LCL)
LCL is a shipment that does not fill a container. With a LCL shipment, you pay for your cargo to be shipped in a container with one or more loads of other customers from the freight carrier. If you know that you can’t even fill a 20-foot container, LCL is the most sensible option in terms of cost and convenience. When using LCL shipping services, you do not need to worry about returning the container after delivery. Since you are sharing the container, it is the shipping container Service company’s concern, which is likely to have reserved return trips for that LCL container. Loaders using LCL must be concerned only with the load being shipped and nothing else.
